Sommelier's beer tasting event at The West Riding LRR next Thursday

Cask Marque's Annabel Smith will be hosting a ladies' charity beer tasting evening at The West Riding LRR on Thursday, March 6.
The beer sommelier is offering a 'tantalising journey' tasting five ales and specially selected food.
The event, which starts at 7.30pm next Thursday and also features a light buffet, marks International Women's Day (Saturday, March 8).
Tickets cost £10 each from the venue on Dewsbury Railway Station.

Oh for goodness' sake! "The beer sommelier is offering a 'tantalising journey' tasting five ales and specially selected food."

No wonder beer prices are skyrocketing! Beer has now become a specialist drink, and the domain of the 'OK yah!' brigade. 'What do those funny little working class people drink, yah?' 'Oh my god! How quaint!'

It's a travesty. I recently went into a newly opened bar in Leeds, and saw Hand Drawn Monkey IPA on offer. £2.60. Not at all bad for Leeds, I thought. So I ordered a pint. £5.20! The displayed prices were for a half!

That is not the way I want beer to go. But when reputable owners like Mike Field engage 'sommeliers' to tell you how to drink beer, then heaven help us.
