Nawaab Gets Real Ale!!!

Visitors to the Nawaab Indian Restaurant on Westgate in Huddersfield will now be able to get real ale on the bar. As from this week, they have started selling a local real ale, served through handpump, selected and supplied by Sam at The Star on their behalf.

Hopefully, the addition of a light hoppy real ale will compliment the spicy Indian cuisine at the award winning Nawaab perfectly, and give their customers chance to try something different with their meals. Both Sam and Ash at the Nawaab are excited by the new venture and hope that this leads to more local restaurants taking the real ale route. The first beer on the bar is Mallinsons Semi Centurian which is brewed locally, in Lindley.

Good luck to all concerned.

I always think that most Indian restaurants are missing a trick with their beer selection.

interesting stuff - and a good move, methinks!! I hope this is the start of something good. Beer drinkers have been propping up the curry trade since the 70's - about time we had the favour repaid!!

Just been to the Newaab for Tea. Mallinsons was spot on - First pint a little warm - 2nd perfect. Not sure how real ales sit with curry but in retrospect it is preferable to a pint of Carlsberg. I just wish the Laxmi at Berry Brow would do something similar!

I would just like to say that a party of us called at Nawaab for a lovely meal and had some fabulous well kept Mallinsons Semi Centurian over the weekend and it was certainly a treat to have a curry and beer. So long may it continue Nawaab. Thank you.

Hi Festa and all, we went in for a meal on Saturday and the first pint was slightly warm, second two were fine though. I'll have a word with Sam and make sure that the guys pull off a bit before serving if it's early on in the day or no ones had a pint for a while. Saying that the guys are doing a good job of keeping it well! Tara
